Identity: Filipino Psychology Essay

?Introduction Identity, what is Identity? It answers the question ‘who am I? ’ it might appear to be about personality; the sort of person I am. That is only part of the story. Identity is different from personality in important respects. We may share personality traits with other people, but sharing an identity suggests some active engagement on our part. Identity appears in the characteristic of a person, every one of us has its identity without it who are you? Some people’s identity is rich because if their money some notorious because there dangerous and some are funny because of their sense of humor. You what is your identity? As a Filipino I have a identity of a â€Å"Pinoy†. Filipino identity is defined in its origin, culture, language, religion and other characteristics that distinguish it from other groups. A typical Filipino is usually described by outsiders as dark skinned, flat nosed, short people from Philippines who speak either in Tagalog or Taglish, and is a Christian. Other descriptions of Filipinos are rice-lovers, hardworking, family-oriented, and nowadays, a domestic helper. Young Filipino is known as being late, with the â€Å"manyana habbit†, â€Å"easy go lucky† but all of the Filipino starve for the best in life. The Philippines may be described as a nation in search of its identity. Because of the long preoccupation of the colonizers, the Filipinos have become so westernized that it has lost its own identity. Philippine identity has long been an issue among anthropologists and other nations because of the many resemblance and similarities of its culture to other cultures, like those of Spanish, American, and neighboring Asian cultures. Filipino culture, being a melting pot of many cultures makes it difficult for the Filipinos to assert their own identity. Three hundred years of Spanish occupation in the Philippines influenced a lot in the culture resulting to Philippine music, visual styles, dishes, vocabulary and social customs being considered unoriginal by the outsiders. And because we Filipinos are not really English speaking people, they become anxious about their identity when faced with foreigners. Also, when we Filipinos are being exposed to the world through media, the image being portrayed by the foreigner is of being tribal or being associated to tribalism. This resulted to us Filipinos not having pride for their own culture. ?Body of the Paper A Filipino is one of a kind when it comes to identity, each one of us has is identity tells us who is who and what kind of person are we. Is there really a Filipino identity to others? A glimpse of our historical past will surely reveal who the Filipinos really are, yet due to external factors like technological advancements and colonial influence, the true essence of being a Filipino now reaches the point where it is slowly degrading. Evidently, our colorful history truly defines our identity as a Filipino, but as I said earlier, changes threatened this identity. Let us consider for example our national flag which is the symbol of our nationality. This rectangular piece of cloth identifies us being a Filipino. Knowledge of these symbols is not enough to identify yourself as a Filipino. What really matters most is our culture. Culture is our identity. Filipino cultural values are widely-held beliefs which make some activities, relationships, goals and feelings important to us Filipino people’s identity. Filipino is usually described by outsiders as dark skinned, flat nosed, short people from Philippines who speak either in Tagalog or Taglish, and is a Christian. Other descriptions of Filipinos are rice-lovers, hardworking, family-oriented, and nowadays, a domestic helper. And now a day’s Filipino influence a lot to society like in music, food, philosophy, art, religion and in culture, We Filipino preserve our culture very well as you can see our traditions and culture is still alive and we still doing it. Filipino is doing great to our human nature. We Filipino contributed a lot to this world, A Filipino invented Fluorescent light and you could see them around the world inside the offices, nuclear plants, NASA, hydroponic, inside the buildings, airports, hospitals, everywhere around the world. We gave lights to the whole world and Filipino invented the Fluorescent. In sports a Filipino holds the record on championship titles in boxing. Filipino identity now has pride in it, never give up, that’s the true Filipino identity it contributes well in our society. Filipino values is one of the most important identity about us, Filipino identity of a person or an individual known as the Filipino, the Filipino value system are found to possess inherent key elements of value system which includes their own unique assemblage of consistent ideologies, moral codes, ethical practices, etiquette, and cultural and personal values that are promoted by their society. As with any society though, the values that an individual holds sacred can differ on the basis of religion, upbringing and other factors. Conclusion.

Influence Different Stakeholders Exert in One Organisation Essay

D1- Evaluate the influence different stakeholders exert in one organisation. I am going to evaluate how important it is for stakeholders to exert on an organisation. This is stakeholders such as employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers, owners and the government. I will also state if the influences have positive/negative effects on the long term success of the organisation. Woodbridge- The two types of stakeholder I am going to explain are students and the local community. Students can exert an influence through their individual attitude, behaviour and effort. The more students in the school the more they will need to expand. This could be because of the population in the local community and the education provided by the school. This also allows the school to increase the chance of having different courses which could suit more or less everyone. If students want to achieve and gain good qualifications they will need to allow teachers to plan fun and enjoyable lessons. This includes a variety of different learning and teaching styles. Some students may prefer to listen, group talks, and others might want to engage in activities. This also gives the teacher to learn more about the students and see how they will learn best. If the examination performance is good and has improved from last year, it increases the reputation of the school. This is also good because it allows the school to compete locally with other schools. However, there are also negative affects which come into this such as the curriculum lowers and students do not come into school and learn. This will then lead to lessons being missed out on and not getting work done in on time which will also lead for the student to not understand the work properly. The school will be concerned about the students education as the examination (outcome) might turn out disappointingly bad. The government gives out money for the community and what they have to do is divide the money between schools, services and others. They fund the school by giving them a budget of how much they think the school should/would spend in a year. This includes wages of teachers, utility bills and education resources. At the top of the second paragraph I mentioned that if the school was to expand as Woodbridge is in 2015. They will need to provide the school with more money as there are more students to educate and teachers to pay. The negative side to it is that they are given a budget which they will have to stick to. If they go over the budget they will need proof of what bought and the money spent on. If they agree with it then they are given more money to the school. It will be difficult for them to get more money as recession goes on and economy down. This is because the government will have to cut everything so that the country runs also. Coca-cola: Employees are internal stakeholders and can exert influence by positive attitude, responsibility and productivity. Employers of coca-cola need to hire employees to do a specific job. Employees are very important as any other stakeholder as they have first contact with customers. If the customers have any enquiries or want to ask questions they will go to the employers of the business/organisation. If the employers have a bad attitude and lack of communication towards customers will lead to poor reputation for the company with an increase in complaints by people. The organisation will need to focus on trying to recruit the best people which will benefit the business by having them there working. The employers should have good and positive attitudes to what they are doing and their job as employers will be satisfied with the work and keeps the business going. If the employees are doing what they are told to do the employer is happy. The better the staff, the better outcome of the business. Customers are external stakeholders to any business/organisation. Customers take part in profit levels and turnover by buying the products or services that the business provides. Although there are non-profitable organisations run by the government. Organisations and businesses survive through having regular customers which is customer loyalty. Most customers want cheaper products, for example coca cola is a worldwide company who sell their products everywhere for example large stores such as Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Coca-cola also sells its products to much larger stores such as Costco. This is where small shop owners can purchase big bulks of drinks for cheaper. Then they take them to the shops and sell individually to make profit for themselves. However, customers may not always be there which will mean no money coming into the business.

Diva Momma Gives A Fierce Performance

Beyondg's vocal ability and potential, she proved them wrong to do so, when she performed at the Super bowl half- time show with approximately about 12 minutes of booty-shaking, body grinding, hair-tossing and GIRL POWER! They were definitely wrong to say so, as not a single yawn was let out. No one peeped out a word during it as everyone was completely entranced by Honey Bee's cabinetmaking performance. Everyone at the edge of their seats wondering what song she will sing next. And every single time, she didn't disappoint her fans, not one bit. In fact, she got them even more excited, got them screaming and shouting her lyrics back at her throughout the whole performance. The Stage setting and special effects intertwined in elegance and awe. It was very well organized and clearly was thought through for weeks, even months! The lighting was so effective, while adding flavor to Beyondg's performance and still managed to keep the focus on her!My favorite special effect though was when a guitarist (who rocked everyone's socks off by the way) came out of nowhere and had sparks coming out of it, while Beyond was right beside it wowing off the vast variety of pitches she can belt out. Was captivated. Her outfit was very bold and out of this universe. She wore a cropped black leather motorcycle jacket and a leather bodysuit made with strips of python and iguana, with some lace. It was like a woman's modern warrior outfit. It's already fierce enough as it is, but to put Bye in it? The fierce-meter is about to explode! Honey Bee looked rather smashing and wore it as if to remind everyone in the audience that she is one sexy, sexy woman, because, we didn't know that already. Her song choices were very clever as they were all well-known which allowed the audience to sing/scream along. It included ‘Crazy in Love' ‘End of Time' and 3 songs which she sang with her ex-group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. They literally came shooting up out of the underg round, and blew everyone away when they performed ‘Single Ladies'. Best surprise in Super-Bowl Half-Time Show history. The choreography was flawless and they showed that ‘Diva' is really a ‘female version of a hustler' if you know what I mean! Although Kelly and Michelle ere on stage with Beyond, Beyond was still everyone's focus. No one can ever steal her spotlight!Singing Halo as her last song was an epic conclusion. She managed to belt the notes effortlessly, proving herself once again, to be the Queen of RAN. The show was the sexiest Super Bowl Half Time show since 2004 when Janet Jackson had a ‘Wardrobe malfunction†. Yikes! From beginning to end, the singer didn't let motherhood get in the way of delivering an energetic performance that killed! And most importantly, she had now silenced her doubters.

Choose one of these enzymes and explain what it is (have extra insruction) - Essay Example Apart from aging, collagen can also be lost through malfunctioning of the structure. This study will seek to relay more information about Collagen enzyme that comprises human beings’ stature especially its importance. It comprises of glycine, proline and hydroxyproline, which are amino acids whereby the latter is usually a product of proline’s reaction with oxygen (Artmann & Chien 163). The three amino acids are what give it a triple helical configuration (Mecham 80). Although there are 28 types of its Collagen usually detonated using Roman numbers ranging from I to XXVII, the most common ones are I-V. Type I is quite evident in bones, ligaments, dermis and tendons whereby its core role encompasses resisting tension in these respective areas. Type II is present in stretchy cartilage together with hyaline responsible in resisting pressure. Type III is quite rampant in cardiovascular systems, spleen, lungs and the lymphatic system (Keeley & Mecham 40). Type IV its location is in the basement membrane where it filters glomeruli and blood capillaries, whereas type V comprises placenta, cell surfaces and hair (Keeley & Mecham 40). The skin’s middle section commonly referred as dermis is usually made of collagen. Some roles of collagen include strengthening of bones hence enhance them provide structural support to the body and act as lever for attachment of muscles, which aid in mobility (Artmann & Chien 165). The Power of Determination - Essay Example A person realizes ambitions and goals when he or she is determined to work towards them at whatever cost. One cannot realize full potential lest he or she has the willpower to exert always as much effort as required to accomplish the goals. This exertion will also require the person to toil past the numerous hardships that will emerge along the path of this ambition or goal (Andrews 34). Having determination offers a person the physical and mental strength necessary for enduring all costs incurred during this endeavor. Even when one feels like he or she can no longer put up with these difficulties, just knowing on must be strong should offer one that additional nudge in the correct path.  Urgencies are a necessity for an individual with determination, recognizing the rank of significance in every choice one makes. Ranking goals in one’s life assist in monitoring one’s ambitions and simultaneously makes them simpler to realize. A person’s determination drives hi m or her to accomplish ultimate victories in life (Andrew 44). With the support of a decent set of urgencies, one can overcome and surmount dismissals coming from people or groups of people with a negative attitude. For instance, co-workers or even family members who may consider your ambitions â€Å"overambitious† or unreasonable, the determination can enable an individual to triumph over these dismissals.  Throughout history, all pronounced achievers have given much credit to their determination while they endured the many hardships that existed between them and their goals (Andrew 45). History is sold proof of the power of determination and its key role in success paths and stories. Many of these achievers did not just awaken and complete life’s most difficult and demanding tasks. However, a person can awaken and only choose to work towards a particular goal. At some point, every task is underway. With the power of determination, this task merely becomes an accomp lishment in time.

Forum - Article Example The stock markets became unstable leading to the crash. Consumers reacted by exercising austerity measures due to the uncertainties. The end result was the collapse of major financial institutions like Lehmann brothers and the need for bail outs by the government (Scott 85). The European debt crisis is the inability of governments within the Euro zone to finance their national debt without aid from the outside. This problem developed when investors got alarmed by the soaring debts of governments around the world coupled with the devaluation of government debts within European Union member states (Scott 26). Some of the countries that were severely affected are Greece, Ireland and Portugal, and most recently Italy and Spain are showing signs of joining them. The first measure to control this crisis was issuing of a rescue package in2010 to restore stability in the region. According to an article titled â€Å"The fiscal solution† that appeared in the Economist on 29thNov 2011 by Buttonwood, the long term solutions to this problem require the assumption of debts of states facing problems by the bloc. The federalism that is required to achieve this is faced with the challenge of individual states convincing their citizens to support economic federalism in a referendum. The other two solutions offered by the author are submitting national budgets to the European Court of Justice for approval to determine if they comply with federal laws. The final solution is by issuance of Euro bonds that will facilitate borrowing by national governments, but under

Modeling Evaluation Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Modeling Evaluation - Essay Example , management, business, and applied psychology are often interested in multivariate relationships among some or all of the variables in a specified model. Incidentally, SEM provides a viable statistical tool for exploring all of these relationships. It should be noted, however, that SEM is largely a confirmatory tool rather than an exploratory procedure (Diomantopoulos, Riefler, & Roth, 2008). This means that SEM will most likely be used by researchers in cases when the validity of a certain model is to be established, rather than it being used to find the appropriate model. Typically, the models being investigated depict processes presumed to underlie values obtained with sample data, and these processes are assumed to result in measures of association, like correlation, among the variables in the model (Ringle, Gotz, Wetzels, & Wilson, 2009). By and large, SEM is largely a â€Å"glorified† regression procedure which, unlike ordinary regression, doesn’t assume that measurement error is zero and can simultaneously estimate parameters representing the whole model rather than just pieces of the model (Ringle, Gotz, Wetzels , & Wilson, 2009). In the model proposed by Williams, Vandenberg, & Edwards (2009), it is greatly emphasized that researchers must give due consideration into the validity of a theory embedded or implied in the proposed measurement since there are many cases when indicators could be viewed as causing rather than being caused by the latent variable measured by the indicators. A latent variable is a variable that cannot be directly observed and must be inferred from measured variables (Burnette & Williams, 2010). In many cases, researchers will not be able to detect all possible causes of error because there may be some which have neither been discussed in prior literature nor revealed by exploratory research (Grace & Bollen). Furthermore, Williams, Vandenberg and Edwards argue that some goodness-of-fit indexes, such as chi-square, are meaningless

Ethical Issues Inherent with Workplace Stress Term Paper

Ethical Issues Inherent with Workplace Stress - Term Paper Example Solutions for each problem are also mentioned with short implementation strategies. Conclusions are drawn at the end of the paper. Ethical Issues Inherent with Workplace Stress Introduction Due to the rapid changes in the market and industry the levels of stress at workplace are increasing every day and the staff and workers are being pushed hard to meet the targets. Stress has now become part and parcel of the life of each and every individual regardless of the profession. Constantly changing deadlines, long working hours, assignments beyond the capacity of workers are a few issues that the employees have to deal with at workplace. In addition to these most of the time the employees and staff members do not get the expected recognition and encouragement from the authorities. Some of the employees do not get the required health care options and their firms do not offer any stress management programs. Some individuals despite working very hard do not get the opportunity to grow in the organization and achieve higher positions, this adds to the stress they are carrying. The working environment is another important factor in determining the levels of workplace stress in individuals and workplace harassment is a major cause of stress in some organizations. Conflicts between colleagues are very likely to occur in a stressed working environment resulting in more stress. ... Ethics in a society depends upon the feelings of the individuals that form the society. Therefore the workplace ethics of a particular company or firm depend upon the society, the workplace environment, the cultural aspects of the region of company’s existence or the region in which the company does business and also on the organizational structure and employees’ development in a company. Insufficient health care facilities and lack of stress management programs for the employees 3. Conflicts between colleagues over work distribution and allocation 4. Harassment at workplace 5. Immoral workplace practices These issues will be discussed in detail in the following pages. Lack of Encouragement and Recognition This is the most common cause of workplace stress. It is the moral as well as professional responsibility of the employer to encourage, recognize and reward his employees for their efforts. Recognition is very important and serves as the motivational force which increases the productivity and efficiency of employees and at the same time it makes them own the company. When the employees are recognized and rewarded for their efforts through promotions, salary increments and performance certificates, a sense of growth is felt by the employees. As a result they work more enthusiastically because they start deeming the progress of company as their own progress. Death In Christianity And Hinduism Religion Essay

Death In Christianity And Hinduism Religion Essay No matter what an individuals religion, everyone wants their deceased loved ones to pass on safely to the next life, whatever they may believe that to be. Every religion has a different view of the afterlife. That is what makes different religions different and unique. Hindus and Christians seem to have a pretty different view of death, funerals, how to dispose of bodies, and the afterlife. Even though cremation was frowned upon in the early Christian church, more and more people are considering it acceptable. But, for the most part, when someone of the Christian faith dies they are buried. The reason cremation was not acceptable is because Christians believe the body is a temple, and is therefore sacred. Some also believe that upon Jesus Christs second returning, they dead will rise up out of their graves to join him in Heaven. These Christians believe that the dead are merely resting until their gods second return. Others believe that at the moment of death, a soul is either present with the Lord in Heaven or in hell and when Jesus Christ does return again, they will have new, glorified bodies. At a Hindu funeral ceremony, it is expected that the attendees wear white and dress rather casually. White is associated with spirituality, truth, and purity. Friend visit the family at the home of the deceased and can sent flowers along with their condolences, but bringing food to the family is not one of their customs. There is usually an open casket (obviously, the ceremony takes place before the cremation). The people conducting the ceremony would be the Hindu priest and the senior family members. Ten days after the funeral, another ceremony is held to liberate the soul for its ascent to Heaven. Guests are expected to bring fruit. On the other end of the spectrum, Christians would normally wear dark, somber colors to a funeral. This is simply to show sadness and that a person would be in a period of mourning. This practice isnt quite as common as it used to be. More and more people are beginning to wear brighter colors to a funeral. Most of the time, the service would be held either at a funeral home or a church. The service is generally conducted by a Christian priest/preacher and sometimes friends or family members of the deceased are encouraged to say a few good words about the person. Bringing food and flowers to the grieving family are both Christian customs. Unless the person died in an unfortunate manner, the casket would be open. After the funeral service, attendees are encouraged to attend the family at the cemetery, unless it has been announced that the graveside service is privately for the family only. As stated before, Hindus believe that the soul has no beginning and no end. They believe that after a person dies, their soul lives on and becomes someone or something else. This all depends on the individuals karma, which are the effects of a persons actions that determine his or her destiny in the next incarnation. Christians believe that right after death, a person has no second chances. If they have accepted Christ and have lived the way they should, then they will reside in Heaven with God. If not, they will be sent to hell to suffer eternally. Hindus and Christians have very different views of death. All the things mentioned here dont even make a dent in all the customs and rituals each religion has. No matter the faith, every religion has some customs that deal with death and everyone wonders about the afterlife, but no matter how hard they try to explain how it will be, no one will really know until it is their time.
